Although most people in America might think human trafficking is a serious issue outside of America, that is not true; human trafficking indeed is a serious issue in America. According to the National Trafficking Hotline, the top three states in the U.S. where human trafficking is the most prevalent are Nevada, Georgia, and Mississippi. In the United States, human trafficking showed a tendency to decrease when the state government implemented law restrictions on human trafficking. Intriguingly, human trafficking in North America tends to show a different pattern compared to other continents where human trafficking is prevalent. In North America, young men identified as LGBTQ comprise “at least half of” human trafficking victims in the U.S. Succinctly, despite governments’ regulations on human trafficking, lack of information to trace victims and traffickers remains a serious issue in North Africa.
Timea Nagy

Timea Nagy is an active anti-human trafficking advocate in Canada. As a victim of human trafficking in Toronto, Canada, she focuses on ending human trafficking in Canada. She is primarily known for training banks and financial institutions, which can help track traffickers on HT detection through transactions. This education would gradually aid in gleaning information on human trafficking actions in America. In addition, Nagy also published her memoir, Out of the Shadows, based on her experience of working in the sex industry. Her courage to speak out enhances people’s awareness of human trafficking and sex trading in Canada.
Nagy was originally from Budapest, Hungary: where she had ordinally life with her family. After arriving in Toronto to work and financially support her family at 20, she suffered for several months when she was forced to work in the sex industry.
To support other victims of human trafficking in Canada, she founded an organization Walk With Me, where the organization would cooperate with government agencies in investigating issues associated with human trafficking. Walk With Me also concentrates on training numerous government agencies. This organization is one of the largest agencies that aid victims of human trafficking. Currently, Nagy started a new organization as she realized she needed more money and “most importantly compassion” to solve this problem. Her newly formed organization, Temea E Nagy, focuses on “unresolved traumas and new, scientific-based ways to reverse them.” Nagy announced that she would share healing stories instead of traumatic stories, which she used to share with the world. Whatever method she uses to solve this issue, Nagy would provide significant support to the victims of human trafficking.
